NASCAR CAMPING WORLD SERIES ADDED TO CARQUEST FALL FINAL WEEKEND TO CREATE BLOCKBUSTER SEASON ENDING EVENT

(Stafford Springs, CT)---Stafford Motor Speedway has announced that its
season ending CARQUEST Fall Final Weekend event has added the NASCAR Camping
World East Series, formerly known as the NASCAR Busch East Series, to its
weekend lineup. The NASCAR Camping World East Series will join the NASCAR
Whelen Modified Tour to give the Connecticut half-mile two 150-lap NASCAR
Touring events and create a sensational weekend of NASCAR racing to close
out the 2008 Whelen All-American Series season at Stafford Motor Speedway.
The 36th annual CARQUEST Fall Final Weekend, scheduled for September 26-28,
will feature the two NASCAR Touring events plus the final SK Modified®, Late
Model, SK Light, Limited Late Model, and DARE Stock events of the 2008
season that will see the crowning of the five 2008 Stafford Motor Speedway
Track Champions.
The addition of the NASCAR Camping World East Series to the CARQUEST Fall
Final once again brings the event back to its original format. The CARQUEST
Fall Final was run as a combination Whelen Modified Tour / NASCAR Camping
World Series combination event from 2001-2003 before returning to modifieds
only in 2004.
The inaugural Fall Final was run in 1973 and was the brainchild of Stafford
Motor Speedway track promoter Jack Arute, Jr. and Ken Squire as a way to try
to make Stafford Motor Speedway into the Martinsville of the north by
hosting premier race events in both the spring and fall. The inaugural Fall
Final was a stand-alone 80-lap feature race for the NASCAR Northern Late
Model Stock Car Series, which has now become the NASCAR Camping World East
Series. Without a modified race as part of the event, there was a boycott
by media and fans alike which brought about the addition of the modifieds to
the Fall Final schedule the next year in 1974. Today, the CARQUEST Fall
Final is the second longest continuous running event on the SMS schedule of
events. The CARQUEST Tech-Net Spring Sizzler, scheduled for April 25-28,
2008, will be the 37th annual running of that event while the CARQUEST Fall
Final will be the 36th running of that event.

$35.00 for Adult General Admission, $5.00 for Children Ages 6-14, and FREE
